The ash cloud from the Sheveluch volcano, the eruption of which occurred on the night of April 11, spread for 500 km to the northwest. Ash falls are currently intensifying in the villages of Klyuchi and Kozyrevsk of the Ust-Kamchatsky district.

The governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, announced the closure of a number of schools and the blocking of traffic on the regional highway. The volcano was assigned the highest, "red", danger code for aviation.
