Antonio Gala has died at the age of 92 in Córdoba, where he spent his adolescence. As a teenager he discovered with fervor the poetry of St.

John of the Cross, Garcilaso and Rilke. At the end of the 50s he returned to Spain and in 1959 he won a second prize in the Adonáis Prize for his first book of poems, Enemigo íntimo. He had also started writing theatre and found his livelihood as a professor of Art History and Philosophy until 1962.
