The Valdecaballeros reservoir (Badajoz) was not built during the Franco dictatorship under the Badajoz Plan. The infrastructure, with a capacity of 71 hm3, was built in 1984 for the cooling of the nuclear power plant.

The purpose was to supply water to the plant but as it never came to work, its construction was used to collect water, make it drinkable and supply the populations of the region. The Junta de Extremadura – current owner of the land of the plant since January 2020 – prepares an appeal to avoid the demolition of the dam.
