Omar bin Al-Hussein was born in Medina in 9th century. He was one of the first members of the Al-Mansurhi family.

He became a leader of the Umayyad dynasty. His son, Al-Khattab, was killed in a battle in the Battle of Hijaz. He is buried in the town of Al-Aqrab, near to where his father was killed. His daughter, Zainab, also died in the battle. She was buried with her father.
