The announcement that the seven candidates convicted of blood crimes in the name of ETA will not be councillors constitutes a huge exercise in cynicism by Bildu, which is taking place. The reaction is opportunistic, as it cannot have arisen from a sudden regret over newly submitted lists.

The most serious thing is the protection that Bildu has received once again from the Government, which not even in the past has called into question the continuity of its pacts with the terrorist group. The president of Covite, Consuelo Ordóñez, explains it bluntly: Bildu's position responds to a mere electoral calculation.
