Until a few years ago, the word "wake" (literally "woke up") meant to be alert to racial injustice and discrimination. With the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House, the sharp polarization between liberal-progressive forces and religious conservative forces widened.
The use of the word has evolved into a weapon in the hands of conservatives, with which they direct sarcastic arrows and insults at the liberal elite. Republicans claim that the attitudes and ideas of the "Woke" are a contemporary reflection of cultural Marxism in its American form.
