After 35 years and 13,981 performances, "The Phantom of the Opera" is finally leaving Broadway. Ahead of the finale on April 16, The New York Times met some "phans" who have seen the musical as often as they could and who now have grief.

Among them is Katie Yelinek, a librarian in Pennsylvania, who has seen "The Phantoms" 69 times. The musical suffered major financial losses during the pandemic, but sales skyrocketed when the final performances were announced.
