Iwao Nakanishi was born in 1930 in Tsuchibashi-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City. His job was to carry cloth for making military uniforms and bags.

"I wonder why we liked Carp so much, even though life was hard, after all, Carp was ourselves," he says. "If the truck had arrived as planned, I would have lost my life in an instant," he adds. "There is dust flying in the stadium, and there is no place to sit," he recalls.
