Court of Justice of the EU rules that the limitation of the number of VTC licenses in Barcelona is contrary to Union law. The regulation of the city requires that even companies that have in force an authorization to provide urban and interurban VTC services throughout Spain obtain a second, additional, specific to the area.

The complainant, together with a number of similar undertakings, argued that the sole purpose of those requirements was to hinder their activity in order to protect the interests of the taxi sector.
