The National Agency for Health Security (ANSES) on Thursday again authorized the placing on the market of the insecticide phosphine used in direct fumigation of cereal shipments. The government and grain exporters on Friday welcomed the approval, which removes concerns about exports to Africa.

The restriction on the use of this insecticide had caused panic among French exporters, who feared that they would no longer be able to export their wheat, barley and other cereals to their main customers in Africa.
