Flydubai begins flights to Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia

    Flydubai announced the opening of its operations to Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, starting from February 10.

    The company stated in a statement that the inaugural flight, which coincided with the first day of the Chinese New Year, landed at Penang International Airport and Langkawi International Airport, where the first flight was received with a salute from traditional water cannons, and in the presence of a number of representatives of local authorities. Flydubai becomes the first carrier to serve these two airports with daily flights from Dubai.

    Flydubai explained that with the start of flights to Penang and Langkawi, it is expanding its network in Southeast Asia to four destinations in two countries: Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia, and Krabi and Pattaya. In thailand.

    Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa and Indian Subcontinent) at Flydubai, Sudhir Sridharan, said: “We are pleased to see the strengthening of our presence in Southeast Asia with the addition of Penang and Langkawi to our growing network.”

    He added: “At Flydubai, we are committed to opening up unserved markets, and with the launch of our flights, we look forward to providing more opportunities for our passengers to explore this beautiful region.”

    For his part, Executive Director of Tourism and Creative Economy for the state of Penang, YP Wong Hon Wai, said: “We are pleased with the entry of (Flydubai) and its flights to (Penang) and (Langkawi), to be the first new direct airline to our airport this year. We are confident that this route will be a new international route from Penang, and we thank Flydubai for its efforts to make Penang the preferred destination for many travelers around the world.”


    Flights and prices

    According to Flydubai, flights to Langkawi will be operated via a short stop in Penang, providing travelers from the UAE and various parts of the region with convenient travel options to explore these popular destinations.

    Starting from February 10, 2024, flights will operate daily from Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 to Penang International Airport and Langkawi International Airport.​

    Round-trip business class prices from Dubai to Penang start at 11,000 dirhams, while basic economy class prices start at 2,700 dirhams. Round-trip business class prices from Dubai to Langkawi start at 11,000 dirhams, and basic economy class prices start at 3,500 dirhams.
