Al-Hasakah - SANA
The area planted with aromatic crops in Al-Hasakah Governorate for the current season reached 15 thousand hectares, distributed in various agricultural stability areas, exceeding what was planned according to the agricultural sub-plan.
The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, stated in a statement to SANA’s correspondent that the farmers of the governorate are continuing to implement the cultivation of rain-fed aromatic crops, taking advantage of the good conditions for agriculture and the continuous rainfall to expand their cultivation to exceed the cultivated area during the last season, which amounted to 13 thousand hectares.
According to Bilal, the cultivated area included cumin with an area of 8,930 hectares, coriander with 5,635 hectares, and black seed with 530 hectares.
It is noteworthy that the planned area for cultivating aromatic crops in Al-Hasakah Governorate for the current season is 4,366 hectares.
