Participants in the workshop held by the Ministry of Finance and the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce today entitled "The mechanism for implementing Legislative Decree No. 30 of 2023 amending some provisions of the Income Tax Law" focused on the demand to simplify tax procedures imposed on establishments, institutions and companies that produce, tourism, industrial and craft.

The participants also focused on the need to provide tax exemptions to the owners of the affected hospitals, achieve tax justice imposed on shops in their various locations in the city, fairness in tax collection related to craftsmen, achieve justice in the application of the consumer spending decree on products, especially food, and take into account the tax costs imposed on industrial establishments due to the high energy materials and production costs of factories.

Director of the General Authority for Taxes and Fees, Munther Wannous, explained that the Ministry of Finance has been working to continue reforming the tax system since 2021 through emergency and strategic stages and plans, through the unified tax on income and on operating establishments, and seeking to implement social and economic policies, with the aim of reaching exemptions on income and added value and reducing tax brackets.

He said: The tax reduction targeted companies and classified them within specific frameworks, and work was done to exempt charities from tax collection and reduce the tax salaries and wages bracket, stressing the need to work on the application of electronic linkage to achieve justice between taxpayers and the departments imposed on tax collection, in addition to emphasizing the tax statement and the information contained therein to prevent qualitative assessment of taxpayers, with the aim of reaching real tax costs, pointing to the Ministry of Finance's endeavor to establish training courses for its cadres to achieve fairness. by tax collection.

The head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce Amer Hamwi called for the need to achieve tax justice, flexibility and balance between the work of the Ministry of Finance and economic activities in the governorate, noting the importance of the workshop in clarifying the points related to the financial issues contained in the legislative decree and the mechanism of its application, and its repercussions on the recirculation of the economic wheel and production in the governorate.

In turn, the head of the economic office in the Aleppo branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Muhammad Nabhan, called for providing facilities and simplifying tax procedures imposed on the owners of productive establishments, while a member of the competent executive office of the Aleppo Provincial Council, Engineer Muhammad Fayyad, pointed to the importance of cooperation between economic and industrial actors in the province and the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Finance, in order to achieve fair tax collection.
