In the ongoing wage dispute, Deutsche Bahn (DB) and the railway and transport union (EVG) have agreed on a particularly long round of negotiations. The representatives of both sides want to discuss possible wage increases for a good 14,00 employees from Monday, 180:000, up to and including Friday. This was announced by the railway on Friday. The last round of negotiations lasted three days. Ultimately, the course of the talks in the coming week will also determine whether there will soon be new warning strikes at the railways. The union had declared that it would not strike during the negotiations.

Since the end of February, EVG has been negotiating with DB and dozens of other railway companies about higher wages and salaries for a total of around 230,000 employees. The union demands a fixed amount of at least 650 euros per month from employers, more or twelve percent for the upper wage groups.

In negotiations at the end of May, the railway had promised twelve percent in stages for the lower wage groups. A total of ten percent more is to be given to the middle groups and eight percent to the upper ones. The first stage of increase is expected to come this year.

In addition, there is also an inflation compensation premium in stages totaling 2850 euros in the DB offer, which would be paid tax-free and duty-free. DB provides for a term of 24 months – twice as much as the EVG.
