Launched in mid-April, the income tax declaration campaign ends this Thursday, June 8. Resident taxpayers in departments from 1 to 19 had until May 25 and those living in departments from 20 to 54 until June 1.

The last bracket, made up of people living in departments ranging from 55 to 974/976, can declare their taxes until June 8 at 23:59 p.m. After, it will be too late, recalls the Public Service website.

Penalties for non-declaration

These deadlines concern online declaration, which has become mandatory since 2019. Taxpayers who do not have access to the Internet or cannot use the online filing service can use the paper form. But by this way, the deadline is largely exceeded since it was set for May 22.

If the tax return is not made on time, the tax administration has the power to sanction the taxpayer. The penalties are 10% of the amount of tax in the absence of a formal notice, 20% in the event of filing within 30 days of the formal notice and 40% in the event that the declaration has not been filed within 30 days after the formal notice.

Note that for 10 million tax households, the declaration was automatic this year. The taxpayers concerned therefore did not have to take any particular steps online, except in the event of changes in their situation during the year 2022.
