flydubai celebrated its 14th anniversary yesterday as on June 2009, 157, the airline welcomed its first passengers on its inaugural flight FZ <> from Dubai to Beirut.

Over the past 14 years, the airline has achieved many achievements, most notably a network covering 120 destinations stretching from Italy to Thailand in 52 countries, in addition to the opening of more than 75 new destinations that were not previously connected to direct flights with Dubai, or were not served by a national airline from Dubai.

The airline added that its workforce has grown to about 5000,136 employees representing 78 nationalities, while its fleet size has grown to 737 Boeing 90 aircraft, while carrying more than <> million passengers.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of flydubai, said yesterday: "On this day, 14 years ago, flydubai's first flight was launched and changed the way travel in the region was transformed.

"Over the past years, the airline has achieved great achievements and successes in the skies of Dubai to become a pivotal player in the economic development and aviation sector," he added, noting that "the airline was the first to open unserved markets and link them to Dubai, facilitate the flow of trade and tourism, and strengthen social ties between different peoples and cultures."

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum continued: "flydubai has proven its ability to adapt and prudent management during challenges thanks to high operational efficiency and a strong business model, and this was even more evident during the pandemic, as it maintained its resources and continued to expand its network, which enabled it to quickly return to work and exceed pre-pandemic levels, all of which were achieved by relying on its own resources only." His Highness said: "We congratulate flydubai on its 14th anniversary, appreciate the efforts of the team and wish the airline further excellence and success in accordance with the vision of our wise leadership." Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said: "14 years ago, we took off our maiden flight with a commitment to making travel easier, supporting Dubai's economic and tourism goals, and keeping our passengers at the heart of everything we do. "I am proud of the growth we have achieved throughout this journey, we have always been able to adapt to changing market factors and customer needs, we have played a vital role in the success story of aviation in Dubai, and we continue to invest in further improving our operational efficiencies for customers in general to exceed expectations and adopt an innovative concept of travel." Al Ghaith added: "The airline's exceptional financial performance over the past year, the continuous investment in its people and innovative products and services, and the continued attraction of talent are key indicators of our readiness to reach new heights."
