Optimism has returned to the markets: investors are really hoping for an agreement in Washington on the increase in the debt ceiling, which would avoid the very risky American default (with effects worldwide).

In the last part of the session, the European financial markets accelerated: Milan closed at +1.16%, Frankfurt +1.20%, Paris +1.38%, London +0.74%.

Overall, however, the week was heavy for Piazza Affari, which left almost three points on the ground. Wall Street, meanwhile, is rising sharply, with the Nasdaq running at a pace of almost two percentage points.

From the International Monetary Fund come new estimates (better than the previous ones) on Italian GDP, which will grow by 1.1% in 2023 and 2024. The Italian economy grew "robustly last year despite the sharp rise in energy prices," the IMF said. And speaking of energy, natural gas updates the lows since May 2021: the megawatt hour in Amsterdam fell below 24 euros.
