Another blow to employment. The northern DIY brand Sainthimat will definitively close its doors at the end of the week, we learned on Thursday, confirming information from La Voix du Nord. The 48 employees of the stores of Caudry and La Bassée, in the North, and Gaillon, in the Eure, will be dismissed in the coming days. The company had been in receivership since November 2022. No buyer has confirmed its takeover offer during the transition period.

Created in 1977, sold in 2000

This is a new blow for the territory of Cambrésis which has already seen, a few weeks ago, the closure of the Tereos sugar factory in Escaudœuvres and the Buitoni factory, also in Caudry.

The company was founded in 1977 in Saint-Hilaire-lez-Cambrai by Germain Santerre, a northern businessman. His specialty: the discount sale of finishing products. In 1994, it was considered one of the most successful in France before being sold by its founder in 2000 to a London-based investment group.
