The European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni arrives on the sidelines of the presentation of the specific recommendations for Italy, the alert on the timing of any requests for changes to the PNRR. Gentiloni defines them as "more than legitimate", but warns that they must be presented by the end of June, if we do not want the installments of payments scheduled for this year to slip.

From Brussels, Gentiloni explains: "I don't think we should look at formal deadlines - says Gentiloni - but at reality. And reality tells us that Italy, according to the plans agreed so far, should request a fourth disbursement in June and a fifth in December. It is clear that to maintain this pace, the discussion on the more than legitimate requests for changes must take place as soon as possible, because it is difficult to do it after June, if we want to maintain the pace of disbursements established so far".

At the moment the third installment is under negotiation because the proposed investments are being verified. This amounts to EUR 19 billion. Officially, the open questions are purely technical.
