Emirati businesswoman joins list of French highest-decorated personalities
Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group, was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, France's highest civilian decoration, during a special ceremony held at the French Consul General's residence recently.
Al Gurg received this recognition for her outstanding achievements in trade and industry, where the French Ambassador to the UAE, Nicolas Nimchino, awarded Dr. Al Gurg the medal on behalf of the French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The Legion of Honor is the highest national decoration awarded by the French Republic, and was launched by Napoleon Bonaparte in May 1802.
The recipients include some of the most important historical and cultural figures, including Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Alexander Graham Bell, Marie Curie, Audrey Hepburn, J.K. Rowling, Jeff Bezos and others.
Al Gurg said: "I am delighted to accept this recognition on behalf of all women in the UAE and honoured to join the list of all-time recipients of this accolade, many of whom I respect and recognize."
