Consumers who consider themselves victims of fraud or who have spotted a scam have since Monday at their disposal a new tool: the mobile app Signal Conso. The government has just launched a new version of this device which already existed in the form of a website for three years, explains TF1 Info.

The target company is informed

The platforms are designed to simplify reporting to authorities. The app and the site work the same way. When a user indicates that he has noticed a deception on a good or activity, his report is transmitted to the company concerned. The latter then knows that it is likely to be subject to control by the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF).

Since the creation of the website Signal Conso, more than 500,000 reports have been made by some 320,000 people, detailed the Ministry of the Economy. However, consumer associations deplored the insufficient resources available to follow up on reports.

"To deal with disputes, you need agents, and sometimes the administration lacks them, it happens that some disputes are not handled as quickly as desired," regretted the president of the CNAFAL merchants association Julien Leonard.
