The Department of Agricultural Education in the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida has started a training program for technicians working in extension units on integrated management of fruit tree pests.

The head of the Agricultural Education Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Eng. Hanan Samoua, indicated in a statement to SANA correspondent today that the trainings aim to enhance the expertise of technicians in the methods of integrated management of pests of apples, grapes, olives, almonds, pistachios, and figs, represented by the use of agricultural, mechanical, biological, and physical processes to control the pest, and keep its population below the critical economic limit, preserve the environment and obtain a product with distinct specifications, and marketing-desirable.

For her part, the head of the Agricultural Extension Department in the Directorate, Eng. Rawan Abu Hamra, noted in a similar statement the importance of the program to provide technicians with knowledge and technical information about integrated pest management to transfer them to farmers to benefit from them within their orchards, and inform them of its economic feasibility, and its benefits in obtaining clean agricultural products, free from the residual impact of pesticides.
