Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak revealed that Moscow and Tehran are discussing mutual settlements in Chinese yuan, pointing out that more than 80 percent of the two countries' settlements are in national currencies.

Russia Today quoted Novak as saying in response to a question about achieving convergence on the issue of settlements in national currencies or in the currencies of third countries: "We have about 80 percent of the settlements in national currencies, and we are considering the use of the currencies of other countries, including the Chinese yuan, which is one of the trends that our banks are working on.

Novak also announced that Russia and Iran are discussing the creation of an electronic platform for gas trade in southern Iran that will include the use of Iranian gas and gas to be extracted jointly with Russian companies.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out that the construction of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant is underway, noting that the Iranian side is interested in supplying oil derivatives to the north of the country in quantities ranging from 4 to 5 million tons.
