The area planted with red and yellow watermelon crops in Al-Hasakah governorate reached 1117 hectares, distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.

The head of the Department of Plant Production, Eng. Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA correspondent that the area planted with red watermelon amounted to 1046 hectares, and yellow watermelon 371 hectares, amid expectations of the production of about 31 thousand tons of red watermelon and about 10 thousand tons of yellow watermelon, pointing out that the two crops are crops that farmers accept to cultivate as a result of their low cost and good productivity, as it is expected to start marketing the two crops during the first half of next June.

It is noteworthy that the planned cultivation of red watermelons for the current season is 1110 hectares, and yellow watermelons 732 hectares.
