We do not know the amount of the envelope, nor the nature of the projects envisaged. Present this Monday at the Palace of Versailles as part of the economic summit "Choose France", the American billionaire Elon Musk said however "confident that Tesla will make significant investments in France". "I am very impressed by the welcome given by President Macron and the French government to industry," the boss of Tesla, Twitter and Space X also told reporters at the end of an exchange with French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire.
"With Elon Musk, whose portfolio of activities is very broad, we are continuing discussions," Le Maire confirmed. But "it is better to keep the content of these discussions secret for the moment" and that "they remain confidential," said the minister.
The President of the Republic received this Monday more than 200 big bosses of foreign multinationals, including Elon Musk, for the sixth edition of the event "Choose France". This is marked by a record amount of 13 billion euros of investments announced, which should create 8,000 jobs.
After ProLogium, XTC, Holosolis, Ikea...
Among the announcements already known, some 5.2 billion euros have been pledged for a gigafactory of new generation batteries of the Taiwanese ProLogium in Dunkirk, with 3,000 jobs at stake. Another flagship project is the establishment in Sarreguemines (Moselle) of a photovoltaic panel production plant by Holosolis for 710 million euros, representing 1,700 jobs.
In energy too, the start-up Newcleo announces 3 billion in investments over the period 2025-2030 to develop a small modular reactor of the SMR type. Swedish furniture giant Ikea also announced €906 million in investments in France by 2026, including the creation of a logistics centre near Toulouse (southern France).
