Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo arm of Emirates Airline, has launched two new solutions (services) specifically designed for the global healthcare industry as part of its updated product range under the Life Sciences and Healthcare brand.
The airline's Life Sciences and Healthcare portfolio includes its solutions for the transport of medicines, with the addition of the two new solutions, Emirates Vital and Emirates Medical Equipment, which were developed in consultation with customers, to ensure that they meet the requirements and are ready for the future.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates' Senior Vice President Cargo, said: "Our pharmaceutical operations are market leading, transporting around two million kilograms of pharmaceutical products around the world every week. Since 2015, we have invested more than $200 million to build our capabilities, and we now have very strong expertise and insights into the broader pharmaceutical and life sciences. By listening to our clients, we saw an opportunity to support the global health industry's progress in personalized patient treatments, and to meet the growing need for priority services in air freight logistics to transport sensitive materials and equipment, such as those used in cutting-edge therapeutics research, such as gene editing and cell therapy."
According to Emirates SkyCargo, the transfer of clinical trials, human organs and tissues, cell and gene therapy shipped with Emirates Vital AXT is a high-precision service, thanks to the UAE control tower team that follows up on each shipment to ensure it is delivered on time.
She confirmed that contact times in Dubai for cargo with transit times of less than four hours are being accelerated by taking advantage of the larger number of aircraft and pickup trucks allocated on the airport ground to transport cargo to connecting flights.
Emirates Medical Equipment AXM is another stand-alone product that supports the movement of equipment for disease diagnosis, prevention, treatment and surveillance. The service, designed to transport various equipment from breathing aids and test kits, to X-ray machines and MRI machines, is guaranteed.
Emirates SkyCargo said it offers cargo capacity on Emirates' fleet of modern wide-body passenger aircraft, as well as in 11 Boeing 777F freighters.
