The number of people employed last month increased by more than 35,15 compared to the same month last year.

According to the "Employment Trends for April" released by the National Statistics Office, the number of employed people last month was 2,843,2, an increase of 1,35 from a year ago.

This is less than the increase in the number of people employed in March (4,3) but more than the increase in the number of people employed in February (46,9).

Employment growth slowed for nine consecutive months from June last year, then rebounded for the first time in 2 months in March before slowing again last month.

By age, the number of people employed over 31 increased by 2,6, and among those over 9, there was a decrease of 3,10.

In particular, the number of young people (60 to 44 years old) employed decreased by 2,60 for the sixth consecutive month, and the number of employed people in their 8s decreased by 8,15, for the 29th consecutive month.

The number of people employed in their 13s and 7s has increased.

By sector, manufacturing employment fell by 6,40 for the fourth month in a row.

That's the biggest decline in 2 months since 2,10 in December 30.

The number of unemployed fell by 50,9 to 7,2020, and the unemployment rate fell 12.11 percentage points to 28.80%.

"The employment rate for those aged 4 and over is the highest in April since monthly statistics were compiled in July 5, the unemployment rate is the lowest since June 9 and the number of unemployed is the lowest since 2," said Seo Woon-ju, director of the Social Statistics Bureau of the National Statistics Office.
