Data issued by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai revealed that the flow of tourism from the Chinese market to the emirate increased by about 236% during the period between January and March this year, compared to the same period last year, noting that 42,80 Chinese tourists visited Dubai in March alone, a growth of <>% compared to the previous February.

The surge comes as China reopens its borders and eases COVID-19-related restrictions.

The data, a copy of which was obtained by Emirates Today, showed that the number of Chinese visitors to Dubai rose to 94,28 tourists during the first quarter of this year, compared to <>,<> in the same period last year, pointing to a continuous increase in tourist flow rates during the recent period of that market.

China is among the top source tourism markets for Dubai visitors in 2019, ranking fifth with 989,15 visitors, and a growth of 5.<>% year-on-year.

According to the data, more major source markets have seen a full recovery in terms of tourist flow rates compared to pre-pandemic levels, with India ranking first in the list of largest source markets during the first quarter, followed by Russia in second place and the United Kingdom in third, while Saudi Arabia and Oman ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
