«Economy» approves 109 requests for the return of 150 thousand goods in 2022

The Ministry of Economy announced the approval of the Competition and Consumer Protection Department at the ministry on 109 refund requests for goods and products during 2022, including 150,28 goods, noting that 42 requests with a total of 38,2023 goods were approved during the period from the beginning of 22 to March <>, in coordination and cooperation with the concerned local departments and automotive sector agencies in the country.

The Ministry stated that its step comes within the framework of efforts to strengthen the consumer protection system in the country, and enable the best sound business practices in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 regarding consumer protection.

She explained that the orders included many goods, most notably cars and motorcycles, coffee makers, smart watches, and home furniture.


Obliging the Provider

The Ministry of Economy confirmed its keenness to deal with all requests for refund of goods and products, in accordance with Article No. 11 of the law, which stipulates that the supplier is obliged, in the event of discovering a defect or danger in the good or service that would harm the consumer when using or benefiting from it, to inform the Ministry of Economy or the competent authority immediately of the potential damages and how to prevent them, as well as Article No. 12, which includes the obligation of the supplier in the event of discovering a defect in the good or service to repair it, or replace it and return it The commodity, its price is refunded, or the service is re-performed free of charge.

The Ministry explained that the recalls of goods and the withdrawal of defective products from the country's markets are carried out in accordance with the best international practices and the highest levels of health and safety for consumers, in a way that enhances the quality of goods and products provided to them. She stated that she was able to establish a culture of recovery of goods and products among all consumers, which contributed to enhancing the recovery of goods, in light of an advanced system owned by the state in the field of protecting consumers and guaranteeing their rights.


Order Tracking

The Ministry pointed to the continuous tracking of refund requests for goods with commercial companies in the local market, whether through local control processes and continuous follow-up of observations and complaints received from consumers, or by following up on cases of refund and withdrawal regionally and globally.


Automotive Committee

The Ministry of Economy recently formed the Automotive Committee under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Consumer Protection, and its tasks include ensuring cooperation and coordination between all concerned authorities in the automotive sector in the country, enhancing capabilities to deal efficiently, effectively and professionally with the challenges of recovery operations, providing an appropriate and safe environment for the consumer when purchasing the vehicle and receiving the related service, in addition to educating and educating the consumer about his rights and obligations when purchasing the vehicle, and the fair and speedy settlement of disputes that occur in the automotive sector, as well as the development of mechanisms and procedures Proactive that limits the entry of defective goods to the country's markets.

The Ministry stressed that its efforts are continuing to enhance consumer protection in the country by ensuring the quality of goods and services provided to him, and ensuring that refund requests and notices reach all consumers in all markets in effective and efficient ways, in a way that ensures the safety of products and the quality of services to consumers, and in line with the application of best practices on consumer protection.
