In response to the "Gimpo Gold Line" issue, which is causing passenger confusion due to extreme
congestion during rush hour, the government is promoting a plan to designate a dedicated bus lane and deploy a large number of shuttle buses. In addition, the extension of Seoul Subway Line 5 and the opening of GTX from Gimpo to Gangnam were decided to be accelerated as much as possible.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport
Won Hee-ryong held the "Gimpo Gold Line Congestion Alleviation Emergency Meeting" at the Gimpo Airport International Terminal on the morning of today (14th).

This meeting was held on the morning of the 11th at Gimpo Airport Station on the Gimpo Gold Line to prepare countermeasures after two passengers collapsed complaining of difficulty breathing.

At the meeting, Minister Won pointed out that many buses travel during rush hour as an alternative to the Gimpo Gold Line, but the section between Gaehwa and Gimpo Airport under the jurisdiction of Seoul City is not designated as a bus lane.

He asked the Seoul Metropolitan Government to "immediately designate an undesignated section as a private lane."

Minister Wen said, "If a bus lane is designated, we will use an unlimited number of shuttle buses until Line 2 is extended."

The policy is that the issue of bus operation and cost will be resolved in consultation between Gimpo City and the Ministry of Land.

Minister Won said, "President Yoon Seok-yeol gave a special instruction to the minister personally understand the scene and recommend immediate countermeasures."

When President Yun was a presidential candidate, he experienced congestion on the Gimpo Gold Line and pledged to extend GTX-D and Line 5 from Gimpo to Gangnam and Paldang.

Minister Wen said, "Currently, the basic concept study of GTX-D has reached the final stage, and the extension of Line 5 is on track."
