Dubai International continues to lead the world's airports in April

Dubai International Airport (DXB) continued to maintain its position as the world's largest international airport in scheduled seat capacity, according to data published by OAG, an international airport and airline data provider.

According to the data, a copy of which was obtained by Emirates Today, the total number of scheduled seats on international flights through Dubai International Airport reached about 4.48 million scheduled seats during April, at a time when the airport continues to record strong growth rates, in light of the increase in the number of flights, and their resumption to more international destinations, compared to last year's levels.

London Heathrow came in second place with 3.8 million scheduled seats, followed by the Dutch Amsterdam Airport with about three million seats, and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in fourth place with about 2.9 million scheduled seats.

International & Domestic

Dubai Airport continued its strong performance, ranking second in the world in total seat capacity on "international and domestic" flights together, after Hartsfield Atlanta Airport, which recorded about 4.9 million scheduled seats in April.

Dubai International narrowed the gap with Hartsfield Atlanta by about 500,4 seats on a monthly basis, while Japan's Tokyo Airport recorded about 3.<> million seats on international and domestic flights to third place, followed by London Heathrow Airport in fourth place with about four million seats on domestic and international flights.

Exceptional Performance

Dubai Airports said that «Dubai International Airport witnessed an exceptional performance during 2022, as the annual passenger traffic rose to about 66 million passengers, exceeding the annual expectations of passenger numbers during the year, in light of the unprecedented numbers witnessed in the last quarter of 2022, being the highest performer and busiest since 2019, taking into account that December 2022 was the busiest month to receive about 7.1 million passengers, as it was the first time it exceeded Passenger traffic has been at this rate since 2020."

The annual report of the Airports Council World revealed that «Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the largest airport in the world in terms of the number of international passengers, during the past year, for the ninth consecutive year.

More international carriers continue to resume operations through Dubai International Airport, as data from Emirates and flydubai shows a steady rise in the number of passenger destinations within the two airlines' network, as they resume flights to more international destinations on six continents, as well as adding new destinations to their global networks since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
