The number of scheduled seats that the airline will occupy at Dubai International Airport reached more than 13.7 million seats on flights in the second quarter of this year, exceeding the levels of the same period in 2019, according to data from Cirium, which specializes in international airline and airport data.

According to the data, a copy of which was obtained by Emirates Today, Dubai International Airport recorded a 14% growth in the number of scheduled seats on international flights during the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2019, i.e. before the Covid-19 pandemic, when air carriers occupied about 12 million seats.

According to the data, Dubai International ranked first in the world in terms of the number of scheduled seats on international flights during the same comparison period, pointing out that the airport continued to make strong gains with the resumption of flights by air carriers to more international destinations in six continents of the world, as well as adding new destinations to its global network since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, and new companies starting operations to and from Dubai.

The annual report of Airports Council World revealed that Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the world's largest airport in terms of international passenger numbers last year, for the ninth consecutive year, after recording a 127% growth in passenger numbers to reach 66 million passengers in 2022.

According to preliminary forecasts by Dubai Airports, passenger traffic will reach about 78 million passengers through Dubai International Airport this year, especially as Dubai hosts many major international events and events, including the Dubai Airshow and COP28.

The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai recently revealed the latest statistics on the performance of the tourism sector and the number of international visitors, which showed that the emirate attracted 3.1 million international tourists during January and February this year, compared to 2.19 million tourists during the same period in 2022, an increase of about 41.5%.
