Regarding the
reorganization of working hours, the Ministry of Employment visits the site every day to listen to the workers. There was such a meeting today (24th), but just before that, a protest press conference was suddenly held and the police were called.

For some reason, reporter Jung Joon-ho covered it.

Youth union Half an hour before the meeting between the
Youth Union and Minister of Employment Lee Jeong-jeong was to begin, the youth union suddenly held a press conference.

[Kim Seol/Chairman of the Youth Union: I was just trying to convey the opinions of the youth, but I don't understand why you are moving the meeting to private and changing the venue of the meeting here and there.]

Both unions agreed to release part of their remarks and discussions to the media, but suddenly yesterday the Ministry of Employment unilaterally notified the entire meeting of the meeting.

At one point, police forces blocked the entrance to East Sea.

The Ministry of Employment said, "All the remarks were similar for each meeting, so we decided to keep them private."

[Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jeong-sik: I heard enough good words and decided to meet and communicate with each other often in the future.]

In the five meetings that followed the president's request to revamp working hours, it was pointed out that there was no disclosure at all, but it was selected for limited targets such as 30% use of annual leave, places with good record of working hours, or office jobs in large companies.

As a result, a press release containing the expected remarks of the participants was distributed in advance even before the meeting began, defeating the purpose of the meeting to collect on-site complaints.

The youth union that met today argued that "the legal working hours are 5 hours" and that "the direction should be to scrap the amendment and increase recruitment."

With about three weeks to go until next month's legislative announcement, complementary measures such as the abolition of the comprehensive wage system and the mandatory recording of working hours are being discussed to eliminate free overtime.
