friendly economic time for anchors. Today (24th) we will be with reporter Kwon Ae-ri. SKT has come up with a new tariff plan that has been negotiated with the government.

<Reporter>

After the release of 5G, the fastest mobile communication to date, the burden of communication costs, which had been a little lower before, increased again.

5G services are inherently expensive.

Now, 5G users account for more than half of all mobile phone users, and SKT subscribers account for about half.

Therefore, there are many people who will be eligible for this plan, and KT and LG U+ will also refer to this plan.

25 new plans.

The first thing that catches your eye is that there are plans that are tailored to the areas where people actually use the most data, so-called intermediate plans.

Right now, SKT 5G plans only had a monthly data offer of 24GB or less and a monthly data offer of 10GB or more.

However, the average 5G user uses about 26GB of data per month.

I only want to use about 30GB per month, and 23~24GB is a bit unfortunate, and in the meantime, there was no other way than to pay more than 69,000 won and choose more than 110GB of data.

The range that starts to be called the high-priced plan, even if you get a discount on the optional contract, you had to pay in the low 50,000 won.

So, this time, in consultation with the government to increase consumers' choices, four new plans were released between 24GB and 110GB that had been vacant.

For example, if you used to use about 45GB of data every month, you can choose a plan that costs 64,000 won in the mid-60,000 won range that can be used up to 54GB.

If you get an optional contract discount, it will be 48,000 won.

These plans will be available starting in May.

The existing communication plan is too complicated, so this time we made it easier to bisect it while doing 5G, but now they come and ask me to change it again? The carriers were talking about it, but in the end, they came up with a new plan. When I looked at the plans, I found that there were also plans tailored to the characteristics of each age group.

There are also 18 plans for young people between the ages of 19 and 34.

So, considering that young people use a lot of data, the money is the same as the 18 regular plans, including online-only.

But this adds data usage from 20% up to 50%.

This youth plan will be available from June 1.

I'm going to tell you one more time before June.

You can just use a cheap plan and buy and use as much data as you need for the month you need.

It's easy, so I'll say it again.

And starting next Thursday, there will be three new plans that only those over the age of 65 can subscribe to.

Instead of minimizing the data provided, the basic plan goes down to 42,000 won.

If you add to this the optional contract and the discount for basic pensioners, which is 70% of the elderly, 5G will be possible up to the late 10,000 won fee.

Now that I've listened to Kwon's explanation, I think I have a rough idea of what kind of plans are out, but the biggest reason for the variety of plans is to lower the burden of communication charges. However, this is just because there are more plans, not that they have become cheaper. That's what they say.

<Reporter>
Some
people are talking about that now.

This is because if you open the plan, the cheaper the plan, the higher the unit price per 1GB of data, and the current plan system remains the same.

The government's explanation for this was that the more it was written, the lower the unit cost, which is not something that can be said.

But just as if you buy something, it will reduce the unit price when you buy it in a bundle rather than if you buy it individually, so does communication.

And another thing, 5G users right now are almost all subscribers of three companies: SKT, KT and LG U+.

99% of budget phone users still use LTE, which is a precursor to 5G.

However, this is because budget phone companies are not easily able to offer cheaper plans for 5G, the latest mobile communication, than the three major companies.

Budget phone companies pay for the communication networks invested and built by the three major companies to create low-cost plans.

There are also voices on the budget phone side that the environment needs to be further improved so that we can literally create a slightly more affordable 5G rate and a niche 5G plan.

We should look forward to the 5G plans that KT and LG U+ will announce in the future, but we need to continue to improve them so that they can be devised with real affordable charges on the budget phone side.
