The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has signed an agreement with a number of tax agents, under which agents will be granted a 20% discount on their fees to eligible SMEs for the "Mowafaq" package, which was officially launched by the Authority the day before yesterday.
Tax agents said that this deduction, according to the agreement, a copy of which was obtained by Emirates Today, is binding on each agent who signed an agreement with the Federal Tax Authority, regardless of the amount of fees he receives for his services related to helping businesses comply with the corporate tax expected to take effect during the second half of this year.
The agents explained to Emirates Today that there is a classification of companies adopted by the Federal Tax Authority based on the classification specified by the economic departments in each emirate, which shows whether the company is small or medium.
The agents, who preferred not to be named, added that emails were sent to companies eligible to benefit from the "Mowafaq" package and identified key points of contact between SMEs and the Federal Tax Authority within the package it provides in cooperation with tax agents to support those companies in accounting and at the auditing level.
They pointed out that a tax agent was identified for each group of companies as the main point of contact between them and the Federal Tax Authority, and these companies were asked to provide the agent with contact information.
Advantages and incentives
According to the Federal Tax Authority, the Mowafaq package provides a variety of benefits and incentives that encourage tax compliance, including competitive quotations for low-cost tax accounting programs and systems to ease the financial burden on SMEs.
The package also allows booking live appointments with account managers specialized in tax relations, as well as those registered in the package can benefit from tax agent services offers, in addition to giving priority services to SME representatives.
The benefits of the "Mowafaq" package include organizing awareness workshops dedicated to small and medium enterprises registered in the package, in order to introduce them to the services provided by the Federal Tax Authority and its future directions.
The package enables DEWA to identify the challenges that may face this sector, and to develop mechanisms to address and overcome them.
The package also provides registrants with educational materials tailored to their needs on tax procedures and how to implement them with simplified identification methods to encourage and help them self-comply.
