His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, stressed that supporting environmental preservation and promoting sustainability in the travel and tourism sector are key pillars of Ras Al Khaimah's strategy and comprehensive development plans, which are in line with the UAE's long-term vision to reduce emissions and achieve climate neutrality by 2050, to create a better future for current and future generations.

This came during His Highness's attendance yesterday at the opening of the tenth edition of the "Arab Aviation Summit", under the slogan "Sustainability and its direct impact on the concepts of travel and tourism in the current era", at the "Al Hamra International Exhibition and Convention Center" in Ras Al Khaimah, with the participation of more than 600 officials, experts and thought leaders in the travel and tourism sector at the level of the UAE, the Arab countries and the world.

His Highness said: "Ras Al Khaimah will continue to be an active partner in advancing all local, regional and global efforts that will address global challenges and explore opportunities in the travel and tourism sector to achieve sustainability in this field, thus contributing to enhancing economic and tourism growth in the country and the emirate."

His Highness added: "We are delighted to host the Arab Aviation Summit for the third year in a row, which is a testament to our belief in our ability to contribute to a qualitative change in the methodologies and concepts of travel around the world to make it more sustainable, and to consolidate Ras Al Khaimah's position as a leading destination in the region in sustainable tourism."

His Highness called for more concerted efforts to achieve sustainability in this vital sector, which is considered one of the most prominent drivers of development, pointing to the need to take advantage of the latest available technological innovations, and launch future initiatives to enhance the sustainability of the sector and contribute positively to the issue of climate change.

Interactive panel discussions and keynote speeches at the Arab Aviation Summit, organised in partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), will highlight the concepts of carbon neutrality in the aviation and travel sectors, and highlight trends, challenges and opportunities that can drive growth and development in this field.
