Within a month, taxpayers will be able to declare their income online for the year 2022. The tax declaration service, used by almost all French people, will open on April 13, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced Tuesday. To do this, you must go to your personalized space on the impots.gouv.fr site, with your tax number and password.

Taxpayers will then have until May 25 to complete their pre-filled return if they live in a department numbered from 01 to 19, until June 1 if they live in a department numbered from 20 to 54, and until June 8 for departments numbered 55 and beyond.

Mailing from April 6 to 25

Reserved for users whose home is not connected to the Internet, the paper declaration must be returned no later than May 22, says the press release of the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP). For this minority of taxpayers, pre-filled returns will be sent by mail from April 6 to 25.

Be careful not to exceed the deadlines set by the administration. Any delay is sanctioned by the tax authorities, which will claim 10% of the total amount of income tax, except for exceptions and justifications.
