dnata Catering opens first facility at Australia's Sunshine Coast Airport
dnata, a global aviation and travel services provider, has expanded its retail presence in Australia by winning a multi-year contract with Bonza, Australia's newest airline, to support its operations and services, including providing a 100% Australian menu to the airline upon request.
dnata Catering will support Ponza operations from a new facility near the airline's base at Sunshine Coast, the first of its kind at the ever-evolving airport.
According to the statement, dnata Catering currently operates 15 facilities in Australia, including the new centre, with a team of more than 3000,40 highly trained specialists providing tailor-made in-flight catering and retail services to more than <> airlines in Australia.
Ponza, Australia's only independent low-cost carrier, which launched operations in January 2023, operates from its main base at Sunshine Coast Airport and currently serves 17 routes in 13 locations across the country.
Hiranjan Aloysius, Country Manager of dnata Catering in Australia, said: "Our innovative solutions and deep understanding of passenger requirements will ensure a unique travel experience, helping Ponza deliver on its ambitious growth plans.
Carly Buffy, Commercial Director at Ponza, said: "dnata played a key role in delivering the world's first in-flight menu, all of which came from its home country, served on demand via the Fly Bonza app and delivered directly to passengers in their seats.
Creating and delivering the entire Australian menu was not easy, which led to the creation of the first catering facility at the Ponza Square at Sunshine Coast Airport.
dnata's Catering & Retail division is one of the world's leading in-flight hospitality providers.
During the first six months of the 2022/2023 financial year, dnata's teams carried more than 50 million meals and provided full services to low-cost carriers and VIP aircraft in more than 60 locations.
dnata provides ground handling, cargo, travel, catering and retail services at more than 130 airports in more than 30 countries across six continents.
