However, the Appellate Body has not been held since 2019 due to the United States' opposition to the appointment of members, and it has stopped functioning.



In response to this, an interim settlement framework has been launched with the participation of 52 countries and regions, including the EU, China, and Australia.



At first, the Japanese government was in the position that it should aim to normalize the original resolution procedure, but since the problem has been prolonged and there are concerns that the disputes that are being filed will be "salted", so to speak, it is a measure for the time being. It decided to join the framework of the interim settlement.



Going forward, we intend to promote the use of this framework and continue to encourage the United States and other countries to normalize WTO procedures.
