The reform of the judicial system has not yet been adopted in Israel, but the country is already in the midst of a constitutional crisis.

First episode: National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir dismisses Tel Aviv Police Chief Amihai Eshed.

He did not have a strong enough hand in suppressing demonstrations and did not follow Ben Gvir's directives.

He was appointed head of the national police training division.

An hour later

a shooting broke out in the middle of Tel Aviv

.

It is Eshed who directs the operations.

But this Friday morning, Gali Baharav-Miara, the government's legal adviser and chief prosecutor, ordered the suspension of the dismissal procedure and expressed concern about the legality and context of this decision.

Amihai Eshed remains in place until further notice, she proclaims.

An NGO steps up

She was immediately accused of leftism by the supervising minister.

The Movement for Quality Government is turning to the Supreme Court to definitively overturn this dismissal.

“

We will not allow Ben Gvir to transform the police into a private militia

,” the Israeli NGO asserts.

Another dismissal: a reservist fighter pilot of the rank of colonel was laid off by the commander of the Israeli air force.

He had, says the army, led a few days ago the rebellion of reservist pilots who claim that they will not serve under a dictatorial regime.
