Dubai welcomes 1.47 million international tourists in January, up 50%

Data from Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism showed that the emirate received more than 1.47 million international tourists in January compared to 980,50 in January last year, an increase of about <>%.

According to the department's data, Dubai continued to record strong rates in the total number of visitors compared to last year's levels, while the indicators of the number of hotel rooms, nights booked, the average daily rate, as well as the average return on room exceeded pre-pandemic levels as well. The number of hotel rooms in Dubai at the end of January 2023 reached more than 147,809 hotel rooms, within <> hotel establishments.

The length of stay of guests during January was recorded as four hotel nights, compared to 4.5 nights in the same period of 2021, while the number of nights (rooms booked) reached about 3.64 million overnight nights, compared to about 3 million overnight nights in the corresponding period, with a growth rate of 21%.

Western Europe ranked first in terms of source of visitors to Dubai, accounting for 20% of the total number of visitors, in January this year, followed by South Asia, Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe with 16% each, compared to 15% for the GCC region.
