Facebook and Instagram: Meta announces monthly fee for blue tick

Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, announced that users of the two social media platforms can pay a monthly subscription in order to receive the blue verification mark.

The blue Meta tag costs $11.99 per month for web browser users, or $14.99 for iOS users.

This will be available in Australia and New Zealand this week.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the move contributes to improving security and credibility on social media apps.

Meta's decision comes after Twitter owner Elon Musk implemented a checkmark payment system in November 2022.
