His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, yesterday inaugurated the Green Data Centre of Moro Hub (Moro Hub), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which is the largest solar-powered data centre in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world.

His Highness said in a tweet on Twitter: "We have launched the Green Data Center (Moro Hub) of Digital DEWA, which is fully powered by solar energy generated at the Mohammed bin Rashid Complex, the largest in the world in one site."

His Highness added: "With the vision of Mohammed bin Rashid, the efforts of the work teams, and its renewable energy, Dubai is able to provide a leading global model in the field of sustainability and green economy."

Conventions

On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, agreements were signed between Moro Hub and a group of its technology and customer partners, including Dell Technologies, Microsoft, Huawei, VMware, Emirates NBD, Digital Dubai and Dubai Islamic Bank.

During his visit to the centre, His Highness was received by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, who briefed His Highness on the Green Data Centre sections and its integrated solutions that provide the next generation of services for digital transformation, cloud computing, hosting and cybersecurity, smart cities, Internet of Things services, professional and managed services, in addition to services supported by Moro Hub GPT technology.

A qualitative step

"As part of the future vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, we have completed the construction of the world's largest solar-powered green data center, which represents a qualitative step that reflects the UAE's global position in the field of sustainability and green economy, and a model for combining digital and energy technologies, designed to meet sustainable and environmental goals by providing a world-class infrastructure for environmentally friendly and low-carbon information technology that works using Solar energy, in line with the objectives of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai's Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050, to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050."

Digital Transformation

Al Tayer added: "The Green Data Centre, which relies on the world's largest solar energy, reflects our continuous efforts to support the strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, and keep pace with the UAE's hosting of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), and reflects our commitment to promoting sustainability in the UAE, and our continuous endeavor to strengthen Dubai's leading position as the capital of the green economy in the world, as Moro Hub has always been proactive in promoting digital transformation and sustainability, and promoting Its integrated solutions to help organizations and companies achieve carbon neutrality."

Latest Technology

The green data center will host a range of leading solutions from Dell Technologies, Microsoft and Huawei, including the latest IoT and cybersecurity, dual digital, artificial intelligence, e-SaaS recovery, consulting and professional services, managed services, accommodation services, network services as a service, Moro Hub Open Cloud and more. The carbon-neutral green data center is 100% solar-based, with a production capacity of more than 100 MW. The center, which has Tier-III certification from the Uptime Institute, will exceed 16,<> square meters.
